Algae Scope is a biotech startup unlocking the full potential of seaweed as a sustainable resource for commercial and industrial innovation. Our mission is to advance the seaweed value chain – from sustainable supply to innovative uses across coatings, food, feed, and fuel. By transforming low-value residues into high-value bioproducts, we contribute to cleaner industries, healthier communities, and a regenerative blue economy. Seaweed is an abundant, climate-positive resource that captures co2, restores ecosystems, boosts biodiversity, requires no land or freshwater, and enables safer, sustainable products.
Role in the project
Within the MARMADE project, Algae Scope plays a key role in mapping Europe’s seaweed supply chains and regulatory frameworks. Through the identification of seaweed producers, cultivated species, production volumes, derived products, and regulations, our work will provide essential data to guide supply, strengthen the seaweed sector, and ensure that future bio-based innovations for food and feed are built on accurate, up-to-date information. Algae Scope also contributes knowledge and expertise in seaweed valorisation and sustainable product development, supporting MARMADE’s mission to accelerate Europe’s transition toward a resilient and inclusive blue bioeconomy.
