Wunderfish GmbH is a female-led German food tech start-up, founded in 2020 by Deniz Ficicioglu in Berlin. Wunderfish GmbH is pioneering a regenerative ocean economy by unlocking the untapped potential of European seaweed as a source of high-quality, nutrient-rich, and sustainable food ingredients. Wunderfish develops innovative seaweed-based ingredients and seafood alternatives that integrate seamlessly into mainstream food production, offering sustainable, nutritious, and functional alternatives to traditional food sources. Wunderfish’s current portfolio consists of seaweed-based fish alternatives that include “TU-NAH” and “SAL-NOM” under the brand BettaF!sh. With these products, the company has established a significant market presence, with
distribution in over 2500 POS across Europe.
Role in the project
In the MARMADE project, Wunderfish GmbH plays an industrial role, bridging innovation and commercial application. Wunderfish will cooperate in the validation of seaweed-based ingredients in fish alternatives prototypes, and exploit the competences and know-how gained fish alternatives product line.
