MARMADE is pleased to announce its first Mobilisation and Mutual Learning (MML) Workshop, “Selective Extraction: From Supply Chain to Stakeholder Innovation”, taking place online on 2 December 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 CET.
The workshop will bring together stakeholders from across the marine biomass value chain to explore innovative and sustainable extraction approaches and their potential to transform underutilised marine resources into valuable ingredients for future food and feed applications.
Unlocking the Potential of Marine Biomass
Marine biomass, including shrimp residues, blue crab and seaweed, offers promising opportunities for the development of sustainable, bio-based products.
Through innovative extraction technologies and cascading biorefinery approaches, MARMADE aims to recover high-value compounds from these resources while promoting resource efficiency and circularity.
The workshop will focus on the role of selective extraction in marine biomass valorisation, connecting scientific and technological innovation with supply chain perspectives and stakeholder needs.
Bringing Stakeholders Together for Innovation
As part of MARMADE’s Multi-Actor Approach, the Mobilisation and Mutual Learning Workshops provide opportunities for knowledge exchange, dialogue and collaboration among different actors involved in the marine-based bioeconomy.
This first workshop will encourage discussions on sustainable extraction processes, opportunities for marine biomass valorisation and the importance of stakeholder engagement in developing innovative food and feed value chains.
By connecting research, industry and other relevant stakeholders, MARMADE seeks to support the development of circular solutions that respond to real-world needs and opportunities.
